About Our Doggy Daycare.

Hazel Valley Hounds have an intimately-run, small capacity Doggy Daycare and Grooming Centre in the heart of the Rossendale Valley.

Our facilities include a safe, fenced outdoor area with ramps, tyres and tunnels for the dogs to play on which is accessible at all times, paired with an indoor play area. Our other indoor areas also have furniture, beds and benches for the dogs to relax on and have a cuddle with our humans!

A separate quieter area is available for crate-trained puppies or dogs needing a rest away from the other playful pups. Both areas have a wood-burner to keep it comfy and cosy, especially in the cooler months.

A feeding area is available where your furry friend can eat their lunch in peace and have time to let it settle before continuing play.

We also offer dog walking services included in the price of a full day at daycare, where your pup will be taken for a 20-30 minute walk around the surrounding area. We also provide a range of daily enrichment activities such as lick-mats, snuffle-mats, water play, toys etc. to ensure your dog is well stimulated and guarantees a tired dog is sent home!

We offer flexible pick-up and drop off times throughout the day and offer a couple of options to suit your needs. We have a Half Day option, which is up to any five hours for £15, and Full Day which is anytime between our opening hours for £20, from 7:30am - 6pm, Mon - Fri. We do also offer discounts for multi-dog households and for full-time pups.

We strive to cater to each dog's individual needs to ensure they have the right balance of rest and play and get the most out of their time at daycare. Our team truly are dog-people and we love all of our pups like they are our own!

About Introducing Your Dog to Doggy Daycare.

If you and your pup are new to daycare, we start you off with a free 2 hour taster session to make sure your pup is suitably integrated and is happy with us at daycare. Some dogs can find daycare overwhelming or overbearing at first so it's important they have a positive introduction to a daycare environment. This session gauges their temperament with us and the other dogs already attending daycare and gives your pup a familiarise themselves with the team and the daycare centre.

Please bear in mind daycare isn't suitable for every dog and there are other care options available!

If your dog is happy with us then we can start booking them into daycare! It's an excellent opportunity for your dog to socialise and meet new dogs and people. It also offers the chance to have lots of fun with their pup friends and get plenty of exercise where they have space to run around. It also gives our owners peace of mind knowing they’re always supervised and staff are on hand for attention and snuggles.

Your puppy must be at least three months old and fully vaccinated before attending daycare, but we do recommend being about six months old. We keep all small puppies constantly to hand and we will adapt their day here to make sure they have enough rest and down time as it can be a big day for small pups!

Starting Your Puppy at Daycare.

Thinking of getting a puppy and wanting to consider long term care? Leaving your new puppy whilst getting into the swing of things can be daunting, and we often get told it’s like leaving your baby at nursery for the first time… because it’s kinda true! I often compare the daycare to like running a nursery and finding someone you trust enough to drop off your new puppy with for the first time can feel a bit intimidating.

At our daycare centre, we have numerous things in place to cater to every dogs needs, especially puppies. We introduce them gradually to the centre, usually starting with a visit after hours to have a good sniff and nosy around, moving onto as many introductory sessions as you’d be comfortable with before we start them off with daycare. We have crates to accommodate crate training and nap times and several areas where your puppy can have a bit of downtime from the other playful dogs. We keep new starters close at hand to us to make sure they feel safe whilst exploring their new surroundings and working up the courage to join in playtime.

We’ve taken on a number of puppies since starting our business and each one has done an amazing job at settling in and making some pup friends. Even if they’re a bit nervous starting out, it’s not long before they know where they’re going and are bounding in to start their day!

It’s also a good idea to get your pup booked in for a groom as soon as possible; it’s typically recommended as soon as they are fully vaccinated to make your first appointment. This is especially important if you have a dog with a coat that will need regular maintenance. There’s lots of new sounds and sensations to become accustomed to which is better to experience at a young age to prevent fearful or aggressive behaviours later on. We have an in-house groomer, Jess, that you are able to meet and book your first puppy groom with!
